“This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.” - John 11:4
What Jesus said about sickness is often taken by people to mean that when you are sick, you are sick for the glory of God. God is never glorified by sickness but through it He can be glorified.
If it be true, that God is glorified by sickness, then many more people should become sick so that He may be greatly glorified.
“I become sick so that in going to hospital I may minister and testify to the nursing staff and patients,” someone says. Well, you can go and be a witness in the hospital without getting sick.
Sickness is not the will of God, just like sin is not the will of God. God is not glorified by a person being sinful - sin and sickness are like twins - they go together. But Jesus forgives all our iniquities and heals all our diseases.
How can God be glorified by us continuing in our sins or to be continually ill?
The Bible says that the people glorified God when Lazarus came back to life. There was no glorifying of God while he lay in the tomb dead.
God is glorified by our healing and deliverance. Do not allow doubt to rule your mind. If you are sick He is both willing and able to heal you. Trust Him to do it for you and let Him be glorified by your healing today.
Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for making Your will clear in the matter of healing. Forgive me for my doubts and unbelief – I now thank You for my healing, which shall bring you honour and glory.
