My Heart’s Desire

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.” - Matthew 5:6

What is the central desire of my heart?  What is it that will truly satisfy me? The answer should be an insatiable desire for God, His presence and His glory. But you cannot live with a mere profession of godliness. It’s got to be real.

Being in Christ means you are a new creation, old things have passed away and all things have become new. You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. This means you have a right standing with God, free from condemnation.

I do not struggle with this - hoping to be good enough to come to God. I do not stand in His presence in fear and inferiority, but boldly, because my position is one of righteousness, a gift of salvation.

However, daily I hunger and thirst after Him so that my experience will equal my position. Am I just as hungry and thirsty for Him today as I was when I first was born again?

Dear Lord I thank You that You have made me righteous through the precious blood shed for me. I thank You that I am free from condemnation. Increase the hunger and thirst in me for You, and grant it shall never cease. Help me to see the world like You see it and may Your love permeate my entire being and govern my actions today.
