Let your Light Shine

“You are the light of the world, a city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden, nor do they light a lamp, and put it under a bushel, but on a lamp stand; and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father in heaven.” - Matthew 5:14-16

In Sunday school, as a boy, I sang: “This little light of mine let it shine. I won’t let Satan blow it out, blow it out”.

Our lives speak for Christ, in fact, louder than words. We are lights in darkness and are to bring light wherever we go.

A lighthouse, without a light, is useless and will result in ships running aground. So it is important that we make sure that we shine for the Lord each day of our lives. Let the light of Jesus guide some drifting soul to the safety of God’s eternal salvation.

Don’t let the enemy or the cares of this world dull your light. Shine brightly each day and maybe it will help to sing that old Sunday school chorus line.

Lord help me to shine for You today; manifest Yourself through me. You are the light of the world; let Your peace, Your joy, Your goodness, be revealed through me today. May others see You and be drawn to You because of what they see in me.
