“And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you.”
We do not come to God in prayer in and through our own names or in the name of an institution or church organisation. We come through the name that is above every name, the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
He only is our mediator and the only way into the presence of Almighty God.
In today’s verse Jesus reference to “that day” was when He would be seated in the place of authority at the right hand of God the Father.
He said we must ask Him nothing but we are to ask the Father in His name. He has given to us the power of attorney, to use His name in prayer. We direct our prayers to our heavenly Father in the all-prevailing name of the Lord Jesus.
Never underestimate the authority that He has given you as a believer. In and through His mighty name you have bold access to God the Father. You come to Him not as a beggar or a pauper but as His own dear child.
It is like the day when a very senior executive was holding a very important meeting with his manager and the door suddenly burst open. In ran his four-year-old son, who unfazed by the seriousness of the moment, ran across and hopped up onto his dad’s lap.
And that is the kind of relationship we have with our heavenly Father. We don’t enter his throne room in fear, but boldly with the confidence that a child has for the father he loves and trusts.
Dear heavenly Father, in the name of the Lord Jesus I ask that all my needs are supplied according to Your riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Thank You that I can come boldly into Your loving presence.
