“If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.” - John 15:10
Jesus tells us today to keep His commandments, and it is obvious if you have never realised the fact before, that the greatest sin that anyone can commit is to break His commandments.
He has told us to love Him with all our hearts, with all our minds and all our strength, and to love our neighbour like ourselves. To break these two commandments of Jesus is to break all the commandments because if you keep them you will keep all the commandments which most of us are aware of.
On these two commandments of Jesus hang all the law and the prophets. The question proposed to us today is, ‘Do I love the Lord as commanded by Him? How is this love manifested and demonstrated? Is it merely lip service or is it genuine love from the heart? There is no question about the depth, height and breadth of the wonderful love of God for us. His love can never be measured - it is vast and eternal.
His love shelters and protects in its overwhelming comfort, strength and provision. Today and every day choose to live in His love. Be aware of His love, never losing sight of its magnitude. As you choose to obey His commandments you will experience the love of God expressed through you. You will have your dwelling place in His love as you keep His commandments, not out of duty, but because of a sincere desire from the heart to love and please Him with every fibre of your being.
Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for speaking to me today, forgive me for my lack of love for You and my neighbour. Today I choose to obey You and to love even as You love me.
