“And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name I will do it.” - John 14:13-14
You do not have, God says, because you do not ask. So, ask that your joy may be full. We are, however, told by Jesus, how to ask. We are to ask in His name because when we do, that it is as if He Himself is asking. We take His place in and through His name and it is the same as if Jesus were asking for a certain thing.
The things we ask for must be according to His will. We can ask and ask amiss to consume it upon our lusts. God does not want us to behave like a toddler, who when asked what he wants, will invariably say, “Sweets, more sweets!”
We need to mature in the word so that when we pray and ask God for something that we know that it is in His will to make such a request.
It is the will of God to ask for the salvation of a person; for He is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to the knowledge of the truth.
We can ask for healing, because it is His will for us to be healthy. We can ask for the baptism in the Holy Spirit.
We can ask God for financial prosperity because He says you may prosper in all things and be in health just as your soul prospers. God does not want us to live in any kind of lack.
Are your prayers being answered? If not, you need to determine if you are praying correctly. Are you really taking His place in prayer? When you pray see Jesus praying for the particular object and imagine how He would pray, and pray like He would pray.
Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for giving me the honour, the privilege and the right to use Your name before the Father in prayer. Guide me by Your word to ask always according to Your will and purpose.
