Trampling the devil
“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” - Luke 10:19
Jesus has delegated His authority to us to accomplish supernatural things in His name. He is not saying we should deliberately find serpents and scorpions and walk on them, trampling them under our feet. The serpents and scorpions He is referring to are evil spirits, fallen angels, and all the powers of darkness.
He gives you authority to walk all over the devil and his cohorts. We are to exercise our God-given authority and enforce the victory that Jesus won through His death and resurrection.
We are not to be afraid because in the name of the Lord Jesus, through the power of His precious blood, we trample the forces of darkness under our feet.
I like the story that is told of Smith Wigglesworth, the English evangelist, of the past, who was called ‘the Apostle of Faith’.
He was awakened one night by his bed being shaken and saw the devil at the foot of his bed. He calmly said, “Oh, it is you!” turned over and went back to sleep.
Why allow the devil to harass you and torment you. Exercise your authority in Jesus name and dispel the forces of darkness.
I thank You today Lord Jesus for the authority that You have given me. Help me to be bold and fearless in trampling underfoot all the power of the devil and his demons
