“For there is nothing covered, that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known.” - Luke 12:2
Cover ups have become a common part of modern-day politics. Shady deals and corrupt actions are covered up, but eventually they are exposed.
Wrongs done in secret always have a way of coming out into the light. And cover ups are nothing new. In Joshua we read the tragic story of Achan and his family. He disobeyed God and took plunder objects of gold and clothe from the city of Ai.
He tried to hide these things from Joshua, but God saw and it was revealed. The result was the death of Achan and his family.
At one stage the church in the Book of Acts was extremely liberal with their money and goods and voluntarily pooled their resources for the benefit of the community.
One couple, Ananias and Sapphira decided to sell all their possessions and do likewise. Except that they only brought half of the money to Peter, but pretended that they were giving all.
Their deceit was exposed and the couple dropped down dead.
How can we ever hope to conceal something from God? There is nothing that is hidden that shall not be revealed. The importance of being open and transparent before God cannot be over emphasised. You may be able to hide things from your boss, your pastor or even your spouse, but God sees it all.
Our sins will surely find us out so don’t embarrass yourself. Be open and honest with God and never compromise yourself to be part of a cover up for someone else.
Dear heavenly Father, thank You for Your watchful eye upon me from day to day. Help me to live my life in obedience and openness to do Your will, pleasing You in all things, in Jesus name.
