How Valuable Am I?
“Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.” - Luke. 12:6
The most common bird worldwide is probably the little sparrow. They were sold in Jesus day for as little as two copper coins.
The lesson that the Lord is teaching is not just the value of the human soul, but the watchfulness and care that our heavenly Father has for each one of us.
In moments of desperation some people feel alone and deserted. They have no friends and no one to turn to.
But Jesus says that God observes even if one sparrow falls to the ground. It may not be an earth shattering event to us when a sparrow dies, but in heaven it is recorded. It is an indication of just how much God cares for all of His creation.
Yet Jesus says that we are far more valuable than the sparrows of the air.
All of the creatures in the world, no matter how small or large cannot equal the value of a human being who is made in the image of God. The value God placed upon man was demonstrated by His giving His only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus, to come to this earth, suffer and die for us and then rise from the dead.
God, knows all things, He even knows every single hair on our heads and knows about all things in absolute detail. But not only does He know about all our trials and challenges, but He is ready to help meet our daily needs.
Don’t underestimate your value to God. He created you and He bought you with the blood of Jesus.
Dear heavenly Father, thank You again for Your great love and the value You placed upon me as an individual. I know that You see every detail of my life and You are mindful of my every need. Thank You that You answer my petitions, in Jesus name.
