Ask, Seek and Knock
“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knock, it will be opened.” - Luke 11:9
Imagine if someone came to you today and said you could ask the president of the country for anything that your heart desired. You would consider it a great honour and a fantastic opportunity to ask for something really worthwhile.
Well, consider this for a moment; Jesus says “ask” …who? God, the creator and sustainer of the universe. Wow! Ask the One who created something out of nothing. The God who is the source and owner of all things?
What is it that you are in need of today? Is it health, is there a domestic problem or is it financial? Whatever it may be the supply to meet that need is not difficult for God. He can supply all our needs. He has suffered no lack. God’s economy is not affected by stock markets or the fluctuations of bank rates or anything like that.
God’s ability to provide is beyond doubt. He awaits your request, not in doubt, but in simple childlike faith.
Jesus, further, encourages you to seek. When something is lost there is an effort on our part to find that lost article.
We have all had the experience, no doubt, where you search and search everywhere, for a lost key or ring. There is determination and persistence involved in a search.
When a person goes missing, no stone is left unturned in a concentrated search to find them and when they may be lost at sea no expense is spared.
You are to search in the same way when it comes to spiritual things. Search for truth, search for an answer or a solution, it is there to be found and you will find it with God’s help.
I come to You my precious loving Father who is full of love and goodness towards me. I thank You that You are always ready to supply all my needs. Thank you for the privilege of being able to ask, seek and knock. Today let me experience your rich reward, in Jesus name.
